Support Worker

Do you want a role where you make a meaningful difference to the lives on people in your community? Then join Dimensions as a Support Worker in Weymouth.

Dimensions are a leading not-for-profit provider of support to adults with learning disabilities and autism. Support Workers in Weymouth will work with 2 gentlemen, who have learning disabilities and autism, at their homes. You will empower the independence of the gentlemen we support by enabling them to live the life that they choose.

The first gentleman we support is in his 30's. He would like to meet Support Workers who can support him with activities including:

  • Going to his local shop each day to get his favourite snacks
  • Watching TV shows from the 80's on YouTube
  • Days out to go swimming or cycling
  • Having pub lunches or takeaway Mondays

This gentleman really likes to get involved around the house and enjoys cooking and cleaning. He would like you to know that although he doesn't use words to communicate (he uses a sign language called Makaton, writes things down and uses a communication aid) he can understand you. If you have not had to communicate with someone in this way before do not worry as Dimensions provide all Support Workers with full training.

The second gentleman we support is in his twenties. He is really active and would enjoy to meet Support Workers who are happy to:

  • Take him swimming and dancing
  • Support him to get to his art classes
  • Get involved when he goes out and about on his trike
  • Go to West Bay and other local beauty spots with him for ice cream
  • Take in the local area on long walks
  • Help him with his photography

As you can see these men live exciting lives! They would be happy to meet either full or part-time Support Workers. Shifts at both homes run from 07.30 with some finishing at 20.00 and others at 22.00. Dimensions are able to offer a payrate of £12.65 per hour.

Support Workers may also have to assist with finances, meal preparation and personal care.

Benefits for Support Workers choosing to work with Dimensions include:

  • We offer 30 days annual leave pro rata with the option to buy and sell leave
  • If you refer a friend to us and if they're successfully employed, you'll receive a £500 bonus
  • We offer paid training and options to further develop your career through funded accredited courses
  • Bike to Work scheme and discounts on meals, shopping, entertainment, gym membership and mobile phone tariffs
  • We're a values-driven organisation that puts people with learning disabilities and their families at the heart of everything we do
  • We care about our colleagues and are passionate about our comprehensive well-being strategy and staff listening network
  • Dimensions are proud to be one of very few social care organisations that have been recognised by the Great Places to Work programme in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023
