Apollo Galleries & Auction House Ltd is an established name in the antiquities and numismatics trade, and a fast-growing business based in the heart of Bloomsbury and Mayfair.

The gallery is currently looking for an enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join the team. The candidate will work alongside the Director and Gallery Manager to assist in all aspects of running an ancient art gallery.

The role is wide ranging and requires someone who can multitask both administratively and practically during the running of the gallery, exhibition implementation and events organisation. We value flexibility, proactivity, and creativity to help our clients have an excellent experience and grow their art collections, as well as inspire new collectors with our passion for ancient art.

The position requires a regular 40h per week during gallery hours, Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm. Willingness to work outside regular hours during auctions and events, including evenings and weekends is required (additional hours are compensated).

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

· First point of contact for public enquiries – via phone, email or websites.

· Being a well-informed presence for visitors and clients, as well as being confident in introducing gallery, auctions and events to the public.

· Maintaining gallery supplies, help in maintain gallery calendar, inventory and database.

· Assisting with the digitalisation of the collection and listing on websites.

· Maintaining collection database up to date.

· Keeping gallery websites up to date with gallery programme.

· Strategising social media to promote gallery events and activities.

· Assisting with event organisation, guest lists and invitations.

· Handling incoming funds received via all methods of payments.

Person specifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and administrative experience in museum or gallery setting preferred.

· Knowledge of ancient history and art a plus.

· Strong organisational and troubleshooting skills.

· Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and deal with a varied audience.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe programmes.

· Photography skills and experience in using digital cameras preferred.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written communication.

· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise, both while working independently and with a team.

· Desire to learn and take on new challenges.

· Fluency in spoken and written English, additional languages are a plus.

Salary: From £21,000.00 per year
