Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers are offering an amazing opportunity to learn the art of traditional hand-sewn kiltmaking while working within the sales and hire departments of this leading highland wear business. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for Scottish heritage and traditional craftmanship to join us on our journey as one of the foremost retailers and makers of quality highland wear. For the right candidate, we offer a real opportunity to grow with us as we develop our place in the heritage industry.
This opportunity is for a 2 year traineeship working 37.5 hrs per week.
Your time will be split between Kiltmaking tuition and practice, delivered by experienced kiltmakers within the Edinburgh Kiltmakers Academy, sales experience at the Canongate site and kilt hire experience at the St. Mary's street store, learning the highland wear business from the ground up.
Must haves:
- some hand-sewing experience (short skills test to be undertaken)
- a willingness to learn
- be able to follow instruction
- be able to commit to 2 years training
This may be an opportunity for textiles graduates
There may be the possibility of continued employment with Gordon Nicolson on completion.
Hourly rate dependent on experience.
